Body Positivity Movement and Validation

Hello! I rarely post about serious issues here, but I just want to point out one topic, in which, what I stand for. Yes, I stand for feminism and equal rights for all (since the title has a huge correlation to it).

In recent years, it has been brought to our attention that body positivity movement is on the rise, especially in social media such as Instagram and TikTok. The body positivity movement are aimed to all genders to embrace their body no matter what size they are.

With that, many celebrities with diverse sizes and social media influencers have created the ‘domino effect’ where they post the picture of themselves by exposing their bodies as a form of confidence which empowers other women to do so.

Then, there comes the comment section. Turned out, there are still many people (with men as the majority) stated that by posting the ‘exposing’ pictures, the women are asking for attention in which later proceed on criticizing their bodies and even – sexualizing them. That, can be concluded that they treated the movement with minimum respect and think that the movement is obscure then proceed to invalidate it.

As I stated above, the goals itself is to uplift each other whereas there are still plenty of people take the movement as a ‘sexual bait’ when it is clearly rooted from misogyny.

For the people that still think that the body positivity movement is absurd and impossible, please re-evaluate and think with an open mind. Not all exposing pictures are asking for validation or attention.
